United Methodist WomenUMW News The Turkey Dinner was a big success once again. There are still some problems we need to work on to make it run smoother though. A big thank you to everyone that helped with the dinner & Bazaar. Without you we could not pull off this fund raiser. Our Christmas Tea was on December 11. Every one enjoyed the entertainment by Liz Masterson. She sang some traditional Christmas songs, read some poetry, & sang “cowboy songs” too. We missed the men we have had in the past & wish we would have had a better turn out. There were 41 people total. Though a small group they were very faithful with their donations for Adventures in Christian Living which was our donation project for the tea. $117.20 was collected to give to the fund. On Christmas Sunday a copy of the Charter For Racial Justice will be an insert in the bulletins. We try to present it in some way each year to remind everyone to follow Jesus Christ in word & deed and to struggle for the rights and the self determination of every person & group of persons. A thank you to Neena for printing copies for the bulletin. The full copy of the charter can be found in the back of the church by the ushers seats. The nominating committee did another good job recruiting officers for next year. Once again we do not have a publicity person. Neena will be the new UMW president. Other offices have been traded around amongst ourselves. We have a leadership training coming up on January 21st. It will be held in Longmont this year. We served at another funeral luncheon for the family of Barb Rosenbrock. Thank you to every one who helped with the refreshments and set up & tear down. Mary Circle collected the Thank Offering at our November meeting which goes to the district for undesignated giving. We collected enough offering throughout the year to purchase gifts for 2 of the Angel Tree children, purchase a goat, & bees through Samaritan’s Purse to go to a needy family. We asked for volunteers to sign up for officers. We are without a leader for Mary Circle. Our annual Christmas dinner will be on the 19th of December at 6:30pm in the Fireside Room. It will be a potluck and we will also have an ornament exchange. Submitted by Laurie McCartney Submitted by Laurie McCartney, UMW President . |
